Is it necessary to have this “stuff” tested to determine if it is mold and what kind?
Testing is normally not needed but there are definitely steps to follow. All sources of moisture and water need to be eliminated. The areas of concern should be cleaned and disinfected if possible, replace if needed.
When we inspect your home we are looking for areas that have elevated moisture readings. When these areas are found, mold is usually nearby. Notes are taken and pictures are made so you know where the problem is. Most areas can be cleaned and treated by the homeowner, but for some jobs it is best to let a professional handle it.
